Failures of Rule of Law promotion in Afghanistan


What have been the failures of Rule of Law-promotion in Afghanistan? Irene Khan describes how her organization tries to learn from past failures.

Ms Khan is currently the Director-General of the International Development Law Organization. Before this she was Secretary General of Amnesty International (2001-2009).

On June 6th, Irene Khan (Director-General of the International Development Law Organization) gave the Van Vollenhoven Lecture at Leiden University.  Bruno Braak interviewed her on the failures of past efforts to promote the rule of law through development aid in Afghanistan.
