Irene Khan on Afghanistan
Has the international community prioritized peace and stability over justice in Afghanistan? Despite massive international efforts, both peace and justice have remained elusive for large parts of the Afghan population. Irene Khan argues that the international community has failed in this respect.
Ms Khan is currently the Director-General of the International Development Law Organization. Before this she was Secretary General of Amnesty International (2001-2009).
On June 6th, Irene Khan (Director-General of the International Development Law Organization) gave the Van Vollenhoven Lecture at Leiden University. Bruno Braak interviewed her on IDLO’s work in Afghanistan, specifically the challenges of (re)building the rule of law in Afghanistan.
