Sylvain Makangu: promoting justice in Cote d’Ivoire
“Fighting corruption and impunity within the justice system is needed to deliver a good quality of justice”.
In this interview with War and Peace Talk, Mr Makangu reflects on the lessons that he brings from his work with MONUSCO in Congo to his new job in Cote d’Ivoire. He also reflects on the way in which the international community has attempted to promote justice in post-conflict communities, and stresses that judicial infrastructure is not enough to guarantee the quality of justice.
Sylvain Makangu (Judicial Affairs Officer, UN Operation in Cote d’Ivoire) partook in the Transitional Justice Fellowship Program organized jointly by The Hague Institute for Global Justice and The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation from 23 to 27 June 2014.
