How has the War on Terror impacted the global sense of hope and optimism of the 1990s? Mary Kaldor (Professor of Global Governance at the London School of Economics) explains how visions of a world ruled by human rights and the responsibility to protect were completely blown off course by the invasions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

On June 12th, Professor Kaldor delivered a keynote address at the ‘New Wars, Old Laws?’, a conference by the Amsterdam Law Forum (ALF). Bruno Braak interviewed her on the Syrian civil war and ways for the international community to decrease the violence.
